If you live in one of the states affected by severe weather or natural disasters in 2023, you may be eligible for an extended tax return filing USA<\/strong> deadline. The IRS has granted an extension until February 3, 2025<\/strong>, for taxpayers<\/a> in certain areas of Louisiana, Vermont<\/strong>, and all of Puerto Rico<\/strong> and the Virgin Islands<\/strong>. This extension also applies to parts of Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington State<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IRS has extended the deadline for individuals and businesses who already received an extension on the original tax filing date of April 15, 2024.<\/a> This extension also covers quarterly tax payment estimates due after the disaster date in the affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Qualifies for the Extension?<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The extended deadline applies to anyone in the affected areas who meets the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Extension granted for the original filing<\/mark> <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 You had already applied for an extension on or before the initial tax deadline of April 15, 2024.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Severe weather or natural disasters<\/em><\/strong><\/mark> \u2013 Qualifying disasters, such as hurricanes, wildfires, or floods, impacted your state or area<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Quarterly tax payments<\/em><\/strong><\/mark> \u2013 If you were due to make quarterly tax payments after the disaster, you now have additional time to make these payments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
